TV host Todd Sampson launches new documentary on ‘how the internet has polarized society’ – after tackling body image in hit Mirror Mirror

Todd Sampson has made his mark leading thought-provoking docuseries and the ABC TV host is back with a new project.

The upcoming documentary, titled love + hate, will look at “how the internet has polarized society, TV Tonight reported on Saturday.

According to the publication, the 52-year-old will address neo-Nazis, far-right extremists, anti-fascists and how single men deal negatively with dating apps.

The documentary is set to air on Channel Ten at a future date yet to be announced.

The Gruen Nation star earlier addressed body image and its negative effects in his two-part documentary titled Mirror Mirror last year.

The filmmaker admitted his special contained some of the most emotional scenes he’s ever filmed for a documentary – one of which brought him to tears.

“A lot of the show is about mental illness. We start with the background of the story and then this story unfolds, both male and female, with body dysmorphia and someone diagnosed on screen,’ he said in a TV Tonight interview. .

“I let out a huge scream. It was one of the most emotional moments I have ever filmed,” he said.

“A young man, in his early twenties, diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder, depression and anxiety on a level that therapists had never really seen before.”

“I know everyone judges right away, but she was a beautiful person and she was struggling on her journey. One of the conclusions of the film is that we all suffer from body image issues. We are on a spectrum and some are lower than others,” he said.

The special also examines how pornography relates to these issues, with Todd interviewing Married at First Sight star Hayley Vernon about her time at OnlyFans.
