Australian reality TV star Tully Smyth has revealed she never dated when she was 26.
Tully, now 34, appeared on the Australian version of Big Brother in 2013, where she formed a relationship with her roommate Anthony Drew.
The couple continued their relationship once he left home, but it fizzled out months later, leaving Tully single for the first time at the age of 26.
The reality TV star told the Kinda Sorta Dating podcast that throughout her 20s, she had been a “serial monogamist” and hadn’t tried casual dating.
In fact, she had never had a date.
She told the podcast, “I didn’t know how to date it, I never had a date.
“All of my past relationships were already friends of mine and we sort of ended up dating.”
After spending eight years single, Tully decided to dive into the world of dating apps, where she met her current boyfriend on Hinge.
But before removing her dating apps for good, Tully gave celebrity site Raya a chance where she confessed to being “massive names.”
She told host Jana Hocking, “I’ve met a lot of celebrities on Raya. You meet all kinds of people, huge names.”
She added, “When you see a massive name, for your ego, you want to swipe to the right just to see if you get a match.
“There are a lot of people you just want to see if they think you’re hot, but more often than not you never tell them anything.”
However, Tully also confessed that corresponding with the stars isn’t all it’s meant to be.
She said: “They are not having a good conversation.
“Don’t think for a second that because they’re famous or millionaires or live in LA or fly in private jets, they have more jokes than Tom from Northcote, because trust me, they don’t. “
Fair enough – and best of you Tom from Northcote, whoever you are, congratulations on the joke.
