A couple who logged into a dating app during the lockdown last year got engaged and bought a house – all within eight weeks of meeting them.
Emily Morgan, 27, and Jamie Mullineux, 29, faced off on Tinder in July 2020 and found themselves caught up in a whirlwind romance.
Within days, the couple had their first date together and quickly set about making things ‘official’ – nurse Emily introducing Jamie to her family the next day.
The romance only continued to blossom when Jamie asked Emily to marry him eight weeks after their relationship began in October 2020 and the duo got an offer accepted for a house the next day, Manchester Evening News reports. .
The couple now reside in a three-bedroom semi-detached house in Darlington and are expected to tie the knot in January 2023.
“It was a real whirlwind,” said Emily. “From the moment we started talking we had a really good connection.
“I knew as soon as I met him that he was ‘the right one’.
“We’re living proof that dating apps really can work.”
Emily, who lived near Wigan, says it was “love at first sight” with Jamie, but there’s a chance they never met at all.
“We only paired up because I was visiting a friend at the time,” Jamie said.
“I was in the right place at the right time. I definitely fell in love with Emily first, trying to hold back a bit.
“It was like that Robbie Williams song, I was worried about, ‘say stupid how I love you’.”
He added: “I was getting feelings quickly so two weeks before I left for Edinburgh I knew I wanted to propose.
“I must have asked her twice because she was busy reading a plaque on a bench and didn’t hear me!
“Emily is angry like a hat maker on a high all the time – I need that positive in my life.”
Emily decided to go on the dating app in July 2020 and after browsing Tinder, she teamed up with Jamie, who was visiting the area.
The couple hit it off instantly and arranged a date a few days later in August 2020 and within hours of meeting the couple made things ‘official’.
“Jamie lives in Yorkshire so we usually never pair up,” said Emily.
“He happened to be in the shelf on my Tinder – it was pure luck.
“We met for a meal in Blackpool, we just knew it was meant to be.
“He ended up meeting my mom the next day – it was crazy but it looks good on him!”
Within weeks, nurse Emily moved 100 miles to North Yorkshire to be closer to Jamie and the couple made an offer for a house.
The beloved couple took a Jamie birthday trip to visit Edinburgh, Scotland in October 2020 and on a walk Jamie proposed.
The day after the offer, they found out that their house offer had been accepted.
“Jamie hinted at my proposal but I thought he was joking,” Emily said.
“He took me for a walk down Colton Hill and offered to me – it was so romantic.
“I can’t wait to start my life with him.”
