NEW YORK – For many who feared a face-to-face conversation and physical contact with a new acquaintance before both parties received their shots, the summer of 2021 offers a crash course in relearning how to date.
Google saw “meetings” searches hitting a five-year high this summer, with queries for “best dating apps” and “dating apps for seniors” increasing by more than 3,300% in the past month.
“A lot of people are very sexually frustrated,” said Dr. Paulette Sherman. “They didn’t meet in person and had no physical privacy.”
And yet Sherman, psychologist and author of Dating from the inside out, expects courtship in this hopefully end-of-pandemic time to move more slowly than before the pandemic.
“Firstly [singles are] want to go out and go wild and really connect with someone and that’s been way too long ago, “she said.” And on the other hand, they’re still scared, and the trust has really become. important. “
