By Hannah Albarazi (February 15, 2022, 10:23 PM EST) – California Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday tapped state appeals judge Patricia Guerrero to serve on the California Supreme Court, a historic appointment that would make of Latham’s former partner the first Latina in the state’s highest court.
Fourth District Court of Appeals Judge Guerrero, a first-generation Californian and Democrat, has extensive experience as an appellate judge, trial judge, associate U.S. attorney and in private practice.
“I am deeply honored by this incredible opportunity to uphold the rule of law and positively impact the lives of Californians across the state,” Judge Guerrero said in a statement.
