California officials discuss Kiely Rodni’s research

Authorities have stepped up efforts to find missing teenager Kiely Rodni as the search enters its second week.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced plans to hire more staff and expand the search area around Prosser’s family campground in Truckee over the weekend amid criticism of a lack of Amber alert when Kiely first went missing.

Kiely was last seen around 12:30 a.m. on August 6 near the campground, where she attended an allegedly drunk gathering of more than 200 teenagers and young adults.

An investigation was opened the following morning after Kiely failed to show up for a hike with friends.

Over 260 staff members criss-crossed the region on the ground and in the air and over 1,200 tips were received from the public.

One of those tips fell flat on Saturday when FBI officials checking a “potential burial site” dug up a dead dog.

Meanwhile, Kiely’s mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, continued to request information, telling The Independent“We desperately hope that more teenagers will come out and share the last bits of history that no one seems to be able to piece together.”

Hundreds attend ‘Kountry for Kiely’ event

Hundreds of supporters turned out for a musical event raising awareness of Kiely’s disappearance on Saturday night.

The event called “Kountry for Kiely” paid tribute to the teenager’s love of music, with performers dedicating their songs to her.

It took place at Truckee Regional Park as Kiely’s search entered its second week.

One of the performers was Jenni Charles, Kiely’s longtime music teacher.

“They say the song is twice as loud as a prayer,” Ms Charles said on stage, according to KCRA.

“It’s not just people who come together to party. It’s because we are connected to her musically and play her songs. We hope she can hear so she knows we will find her soon.

Recalling how she taught Kiely to play the violin when she was just two years old, Ms Charles said: “She was the youngest student I took because of her determination and the light and how much she loved the music.”

ICYMI: Police say adults discourage teens from coming forward

At a news conference Friday, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said it had received reports that adults in the community were dissuading teenagers from coming forward.

Public Information Officer Angela Musallam said if the information turns out to be true, it will actively obstruct the investigation.

“Our interest is not in arresting, prosecuting or holding individuals accountable for any underage drinking or illegal drug use that has occurred at the Prosser Family Campground,” Ms Musullam said.

“Our sole purpose in this investigation and search is to bring Kiely back to his family.”
