MANILA, Philippines — National University squeezed out winless Eastern University 25-11, 25-20, 25-13 for their fourth straight victory in the volleyball tournament UAAP Season 84 Women’s Ball Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Bulldogs went unbeaten in four games as manager Karl Dimaculangan haunted his former Ronwald-coached EU side.
Center blockers Ivy Lacsina and Sheena Toring led the way for NU with 13 points apiece to earn their fourth straight win in just 79 minutes and stay top of the standings.
Bella Belen was also instrumental with 11 points, including four service aces, and had excellent ground defense with 11 digs and excellent receptions.
“We always prepare well in every team we face. We just stick to our system and are consistent in everything we do,” Dimaculangan said.
The NU coach remained professional and was serious about keeping his team unbeaten, as NU dominated EU from the start with a 20-7 start in the first set.
“We are professionals. I’m just doing my job. Last time I was with the other team. Now I’m with NU,” he said.
The Lady Bulldogs remained unbeaten despite committing 23 errors as they topped the offensive department 46-17 and fired 11 aces at the Lady Red Warriors, who failed to score a single point from the service line.
Ja Lana single-handedly carried EU with nine points, even defensively, with 10 excellent receptions and seven recoveries as his side went winless in four games and suffered their eighth straight loss since 2019.
